Nicholas is...

Nicholas is a 5th year Architectural Engineering student at Penn State University. When he was in 7th grade he knew he wanted to be an architectural engineering and this May, his young dreams will be fulfilled when he graduates with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree with a focus in lighting and electrical.

Growing up, Nicholas was a curious child, often maligned by his peers for his love of the building technology, especially sustainable design. It would not be long until his curiosities lead him to Penn State University to pursue a career in architectural engineering. Soon, his love of shape, form, and the science behind it all evolved again. After his third year, Nicholas chose to go to Italy. During this journey, he gained an introspective look at his world through the world's eyes. Returning to America for the first time in months, Nicholas had made his decision for the future: he would be a lighting and electrical man! And electric he was.

Through contacts made in his fourth year, Nicholas moved to Houston, Texas for the summer of 2013, working for DBR Engineering Consultants as an electrical design intern. As an MEP firm, DBR focused on integrating the work of the different disciplines through BIM to provide only the best work for their clients. In this environment, Nicholas learned not only electrical design, but how to work on a team and with the client for a superior product. Nicholas considers his experience in the Lone Star State to be invaluable.

Nicholas will graduate in May, 2014 with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree. In addition to being a full time student, Nicholas stays busy through his activities in the student organizations at Penn State, such as Illuminating Engineering Society and the Student Society of Architectural Engineers.
