Course Reflection (AE 481W/482 and AE 897G)

The ability to walk through the analysis and redesign of a complete building's structure was facinating. I feel that I have gained so much knowledge over the past several months working on the Heifer International Center and have become so much more competent with the the various aspects of structural engineering. The first hand experience I have been able to apply to my thesis project, from my classes and internships, has been invaluable. I was able to take this experience and explore it more extensively in my project.

CPEP Comments

I absolutely loved working with CPEP! The ability to try to express my project and building through a website was both fun and difficult at the same time. I feel that it is a very good idea to keep an electronic archive of everyone's thesis projects, which can all be easily accessed online.

While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewithin is considered a work-in-progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Sikandar Porter-Gill. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
