Welcome to Sikandar Porter-Gill's Thesis Portfolio

Heifer International Center is located in Little Rock, Arkansas and is the international headquarters for Heifer's efforts to reduce world hunger - by delievering one animal to one family. The building design was conceieved "as a series of concentric rings expanding from a central commons," showing the animal's impact throughout the community, as a ripple.

During the fall semester of 2013, I will perform an analysis of the existing structure. Towards the end of the semester, I will write a proposal explaining how I plan to redesign the structure of Heifer International Center. This proposal will be used in the spring semester of 2014 to guide me through the building redesign. This site will be updated periodically between fall 2013 and spring 2014.

I wish to take a moment to express my gratitude towards the many people that took time out of their busy professional lives to help me with my thesis project. Of special importance, with without this project would not be possible,

About CPEP

The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web-based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year-long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between students, faculuty consultants, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidlines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering. For an explanation of this course capstone design course and its requirements click here.

While great efforts have been taken to provide accurate and complete information on the pages of CPEP, please be aware that the information contained herewithin is considered a work-in-progress for this thesis project. Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Sikandar Porter-Gill. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design.
