AE 481W/AE482 Course Reflection

Senior thesis challenged me in ways my undergraduate classes only hinted at. The year long schedule required levels of focus and detail in my work that I had never done. There was also a level of responsibility in the process I had not encountered before. From finding a building project to completing individual assignments, I was responsible for my own work with very little "hand holding" from professors. The most challenging and edacational part of this course was the second semester when I was responsible for outlining my own areas of analysis and design. I feel this course provided just the right amount of mentoring while still allowing for self education. After taking this course I feel confident using my knowledge of architectural engineering in a professional setting.

CPEP Reflection

The CPEP websites were very helpful in cataloging all thesis related work. It is very easy for all parties including students, faculty, industry professionals, and other people interested in PennState's AE program to access all assignments and info in one place. The CPEP sites allowed for easy viewing of both current and previous student's work. I also found the course timeline helpful in supplying links to forms and advise on assignments. The creation of a website was something I had never done so the CPEP site was a valuable part of my education as well as a useful resourse for future AE students.
