Dean's Community Message

April 13, 2020

Dear College of Engineering Community,

I do not have any administrative updates to share with you today, but I still wanted to connect at a time when I know the stress is oftentimes beginning to build in earnest. With less than three weeks to go in April, our entire community is gearing up for the final push of the semester. Even in the most normal of semesters, this is a challenging time.

Please don’t allow unresolved issues or questions related to the changes and transitions of the past month to add undue stress. Continue to reach out to our response team at L-COE_CORONA_CRISIS_TEAM@engr.psu.edu if you have questions or concerns. We will also work to proactively share additional updates as soon as possible, including forthcoming information from the University on the upcoming May and summer sessions, which we anticipate soon.

Also, please continue to send your inspirational quotes and “Because I couldn't …” sentences. These are great pick-me-ups for me and many others in our community. Today’s comes from Catherine Cohan in the Center for Engineering Outreach and Inclusion:

“Because I couldn’t work from the office (and my daughter couldn’t attend State High in person), I’m spending more quality time with her talking through her decision about where to go to college next year. Definitely a silver lining.”

Thanks Catherine! And thanks to everyone for your ongoing patience and flexibility. Don’t forget that you can connect with me personally on LinkedIn. And please continue to follow the college on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

All the best!

Justin Schwartz
