Dean's Community Message

April 15, 2020

Dear College of Engineering Community,

Today marks my 33rd consecutive daily message, the first of which was sent on Friday, March 13. Numbers like this remind me of Truckin’, a song from the Grateful Dead:

“Lately it occurs to me | What a long strange trip it’s been.”

No kidding, right?! I hope you have found these regular emails to be informative and inspirational … just one small way to connect with our entire community of engineering students, faculty, and staff who are now spread across the country and around the globe.

Here are some updates for today:

Forthcoming University Updates

As noted previously, we are expecting announcements soon from Penn State about May and summer sessions, as well as employee remote working arrangements.

Student Surveys

I have been impressed by the many stories I have heard about how our students are adapting and rising to meet the academic and personal challenges brought on by COVID-19. Even so, we want to know more about how you are doing, and what the college can do. Via a pair of brief surveys for undergraduate and graduate students, the college is seeking feedback. We hope you can provide your valuable perspectives:

Remember that you can always connect with me on LinkedIn and follow the college on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Also, note that the University’s Coronavirus Information site has been updated to be more easily navigable. Be sure to bookmark it for the latest updates.

Take care!
