Assistant Research Professor - Biomedical Engineering

The Hancock Molecular Biomechanics Lab at Penn State is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill an Assistant Research Professor position to develop microscopy instrumentation and conduct single-molecule microscopy experiments. The Hancock lab studies kinesin mechanochemistry, microtubule dynamics, and cellulose degradation by cellulases, among other projects.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Physics, Biology, or a related discipline. Candidates with expertise in single-molecule microscopy are encouraged to apply.

The position will be in the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Department in the new Chemical and Biomedical Engineering Building, at the heart of the Penn State University Park campus. The Penn State BME department and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences (http://www.huck.psu.edu) provide a rich environment in which faculty, research professors, postdocs and graduate/undergraduate students regularly interact and conduct collaborative studies. Affiliated faculty, staff and students have access to the Institutes’ state-of-the-art core facilities.

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with an excellent possibility of refunding.
