Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor

The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the College of Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor. This non-tenure-track faculty position is a limited-term appointment funded for three years from date of hire with good possibility of re-funding.

We are seeking an individual to instruct and develop courses for undergraduate and graduate students, to promote excellence in teaching, research, and service, as well as to the enhancement of the strength and cohesiveness of the department.

Responsibilities include: Instructing and/or developing courses for undergraduate and graduate students; undergraduate advising; exhibiting a strong focus on students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; and promoting educational quality.

Education and Qualifications: The individual must have excellent communication skills and be able to develop collaborations and networks of support within the university and with programs at other institutions. The selected candidate should have a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field prior to the start date. Preferred areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, thermodynamics, numerical simulation, biomechanics, instrumentation, engineering design, and project management. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
