Professional Track Faculty Position in the College of Engineering

The College of Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, invites applications for openings for non-tenure track faculty members across all disciplines. Through highly ranked residential and online programming, we prepare current and future generations of students for impactful careers as practicing engineers, managers, researchers, educators, and community leaders. We provide innovative educational experiences and supportive programs designed to foster a more welcoming community. In collaboration with industry, non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, and other academic institutions and partners, our faculty lead research initiatives across all areas of engineering that create jobs, fuel economic growth, inform policy, solve global problems, and positively impact humanity.

We seek candidates eager to contribute within a community driven by impact and supported by the cornerstones of excellence, sustainability, social mobility, and equity. Through the College of Engineering Equity Action Plan—a strategic, sustainable iterative process to audit, evaluate, consult evidence, design (or redesign), and implement interventions to foster equity in engineering—we are committed to developing meaningful solutions to this critical challenge and to making significant strides toward a more diverse, inclusive community of belonging for all. Although candidates focused on any discipline relevant to Engineering are welcome to apply, we especially welcome applications relevant to Computer Science and Engineering.

Qualifications at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, Teaching Professor, Assistant Research Professor, Associate Research Professor, Research Professor, and Professor of Practice include a master’s or terminal degree in engineering or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Candidates will be considered for an academic rank commensurate with their education and experience in accordance with AC21. These professional track positions will be responsible for teaching across any of the departments within the College of Engineering and/or research duties aligned with excellence within any research areas. The positions will be term faculty appointments, funded for 3 years from the date of hire, with a strong expectation of appointment renewal for subsequent multi-year periods.

This search is being conducted at the college level and is led by Dr. Shelley Stoffels, Associate Dean for Faculty and Professor of Civil Engineering, and Dr. Enrique Gomez, Interim Associate Dean for Equity and Inclusion and Professor of Chemical Engineering. The academic home and rank of the successful candidates will be determined during the hiring process.
