Pennsylania Targeted Industry Program (PA-TIP)

Purpose:

The creation of PA-TIP was initiated by Governor Corbett and has been developed by PHEAA in close cooperation with his administration and the General Assembly. The program, which is funded and administered by PHEAA, provides awards to students enrolled in programs of study in the following career areas:

Energy
Advanced Materials and Diversified Manufacturing
Agriculture and Food Production

Eligibility:

Be a domiciliary of Pennsylvania.
Have a high school diploma, GED, or recognized homeschool certificate.
File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the award year for which PA-TIP funds are being requested.
Complete and return the PA-TIP Student Application to PHEAA by April 1 (application will be available no later than July 1).
Be enrolled at an institution approved by PHEAA.
Be enrolled in an approved program of study (PDF) that is at least 10 weeks but less than two academic years in length. Students attending non-profit institutions must be enrolled at least half-time in an approved program. All other students must be enrolled full-time.
Have financial need as determined by the program guidelines and certified by the school.
Not be in default or pending default on an education loan or owe a State Grant refund.
Not be receiving a Pennsylvania State Grant for the program of study.
Supply a copy of the DD214 Form if the applicant is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces and was honorably discharged.

Terms of Award:

PA-TIP provides need-based awards up to the equivalent of the maximum State Grant award (currently $4,348)*, or 75% of the student's total direct educational costs after gift aid and employers aid whichever is less. Awards can be used to cover tuition, books, fees, supplies, and specific living expenses.

You must submit a 2022-23 FAFSA® (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and a 2021-23 PA-TIP Student Application (PDF). The application deadline for the current award year is May 1, 2024
