Purpose:

ASHE’s Scholarship program went over the $1 Million mark for the third year, for a new total of $1,3009,662

Financial aid to high school seniors and college students interested in Highway Industry careers has been a priority of ASHE Sections/Regions and members for many years. Records show several of the Section annual scholarship programs began in the 1980s and there may have been others given sporadically during earlier years of ASHE.

Eligibility:

(A) The applicant must be a citizen of the United States, or have
permanent resident status. The applicant must be a permanent
resident in the 10 county area that makes up the Clearfield ASHE
Section (Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Indiana,
Jefferson, McKean, Mifflin and Potter Counties).
(B) The applicant must have a Junior or Senior status in a
four year Civil Engineering Degree program upon returning to
school in January or have obtained an associate degree and is
continuing education in a highway related field of engineering.
(C) The civil engineering curriculum should have a major emphasis in one
of the following fields: surveying, geotechnical (soils), environmental,
structural, construction and inspection, highway design and materials of
construction.

Terms of Award:

$2,500 scholarship awarded in May
(D) The applicant is eligible to receive the award only one time.
(E) Students who previously applied for the scholarship and were not
recipients are strongly encouraged to resubmit an application for review.
