Purpose:
In 2009, NCEES introduced this award to recognize college engineering programs for engaging their students in collaborative projects with licensed professional engineers.
The NCEES Engineering Award for Connecting Professional Practice and Education was established to promote understanding of the value of licensure and to encourage partnerships between the engineering profession and education.
EAC/ABET-accredited programs from all engineering disciplines are invited to submit projects that integrate professional practice and education. Projects must be in progress or completed
Eligibility:
The jury will consider the following criteria:
> Successful collaboration of faculty, students, and licensed professional engineers
> Benefit to public health, safety, and welfare
> Multidiscipline and/or allied profession participation
> Knowledge or skills gained
> Effectiveness of display board, abstract, and project description

Terms of Award:
The NCEES Engineering Award includes eight cash awards.
Grand prize: $25,000
Seven awards: $10,000 each
Use of the funds awarded is at the discretion of the winning engineering departments/colleges. NCEES encourages their use for the advancement of projects connecting professional practice and education.
The grand prize winner will be recognized at the NCEES annual meeting in August. All award-winning submissions will be exhibited at the event and featured on the NCEES Web site, in NCEES publications, and in other related professional publications.

All entry materials will be submitted electronically at ncees.org/award.
To be considered, entries must be received by May. Eligible entries will include the following four items:
A completed Entry Form, verified by your department chair (or similar title)
An abstract (maximum one page, PDF or Word)
A project description (maximum seven pages, PDF or Word) organized as follows:
Project description
Collaboration of faculty, students, and licensed professional engineers
Protection of health, safety, and/or welfare of the public
Multidiscipline and/or allied profession participation
Knowledge or skills gained
Development since previous submission (for resubmitted entries)
A visual representation of the project that summarizes the submission should be submitted electronically. NCEES will print the file and mount it on a 30? X 30? foam core board for the jury meeting. The display board must be in a jpg, tif, eps file (minimum 300 dpi) or a PDF file (high-quality print) and designed to print 30? X 30?. The display board may include text and/or graphics, but the university name and location and the names of the participants should not be identified in any of these elements.
