Community Hero Scholarship

Purpose:

Whether you collect food or clothing, tutor children, or hold bake sales, serving your community makes it stronger—and brings you closer to your neighbors. Our Community Hero Scholarship honors people like you who make a difference where you live.
To apply for our $5,000 scholarship, just create a Course Hero account, then write a 500-word essay on how you were inspired to volunteer, and what it has meant to you. You’ll get an email from us if you've won by July 03, 2020 11:59 PM CDT we’ll then send the scholarship money directly to your school, where it will be applied to your tuition.

Eligibility:

Must have completed at least 20 hours of community service in 2020
Currently enrolled full-time or part-time in a two-year or four-year accredited undergraduate or graduate college or university as listed with the U.S. Department of Education website
Are at least 16 years old
Have at least a 3.0 GPA

Terms of Award:

One or more judges from Course Hero will read all of the eligible contest entries and select the scholarship award recipients. The judge(s) shall base their decision on your sincerity, creativity, thoughtfulness, and factual credibility, as well as your response to the following essay question: "What inspired you to begin dedicating your time to help those in need? How has serving your community impacted your character and outlook on life?"
Odds of winning depend on the number of entries and the quality of your response, as determined by the judge(s)

Please Submit:

Copy of your school or state photo ID (we use this only to verify your identity so we can award you the scholarship)
Your year in school (please indicate if high school or college)
The university/college you’re currently attending or planning to attend. If you don't yet know where you’ll be going, we'll hold on to this scholarship until you’re officially accepted. Please send us a copy of your acceptance letter once you’ve received one
Your student ID number (please indicate if this is a high school or college ID number)
A high-def photo (we may use your photo and bio to feature you on our website and social media platforms)
Short bio (2-5 sentences), including your hometown, school, major (if you have one), and plans for the future. (What would you like people to know about you?)
Your mailing address and T-shirt size (for some Course Hero swag!)
Are you interested in being featured in a blog post? Yes/No
GPA verification: - If you’re not currently enrolled in a university, please provide us with the email contact information of your high school counselor, plus your written consent that we have your permission to contact them to verify your GPA
Read and sign the "Affidavit" attached to this email. (Please note, if you’re under 16 years old, you’ll need a parent/guardian to sign.)
