AE 481W/897G Course Reflection:
I found that the AE Senior Thesis project and the 2013 ASCE Charles Pankow Foundation Architectural Engineering Student Competition was rewarding. It provided opportunities to consider the impact of design decisions within buildings. Additionally, it provided us with opportunities to progress toward professional documentation, presentations, and overall design. The integrated component was most rewarding, allowing me to experience the design considerations and process carried out by other disciplines. I enjoyed designed for the site and project chosen, because it is likely to be the type of project I will work on at some point in my career. The importance of goals and their role in a team dynamic is critical, and we quickly discovered how the decisions we made would impact our team members. The opportunity to learn from one another was also extremely rewarding. Simple aspects like commands and strategies when working within different computer programs will benefit me throughout my professional career. We learned a lot about team dynamics, and feel that we benefitted as a team by assuming equal roles within the group. While every student is sure to have some constructive criticism regarding their specific experience, the entire Senior Thesis project has prepared me for a professional environment and career.

CPEP Reflection:
CPEP is a really convenient way to view electronic portfolio of past students. It was very helpful to find guidance through previous submissions. Due to my group involvement in the ASCE Charles Pankow Foundation Architectural Engineering Student Competition, I posted very little information throughout the semester to our electronic portfolio. However, I will be proud to direct future professionals to our group website, where they can access our work and learn more about our group.
