Dean's Community Message

April 19, 2020

Dear College of Engineering Community,

As we get ready to begin another week of remote teaching and learning and telecommuting, I want to reiterate that the well being of our students, faculty and staff is our top priority, and we want to ensure that everyone feels supported during this time. I encourage those who have questions or concerns to please reach out to our response team at L-COE_CORONA_CRISIS_TEAM@engr.psu.edu.

That brings me to today’s quote submitted by Adrian Herrera-Amaya, graduate student in mechanical engineering:

“Today is only one day in all days that will ever be. But what will happen in all the other days that ever come can depend on what you do today.”
—Ernest Hemingway

Sometimes we need to be reminded to take one day at a time, solve one problem at a time, and never be afraid to ask for help. Asking for help does not signify weakness; it’s simply a sign of our humanness.

I do not have any administrative updates to share with you today. I hope all of you had a relaxing weekend, and I wish you the best as we start into week six of remote learning, teaching, and working.

Please continue to email me your “Because I couldn’t …” and your inspirational quotes. Penn State updates are available on the University’s coronavirus information site. You can connect with me on LinkedIn and follow the college on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Take care!

Justin Schwartz
