Dean's Community Message
November 24, 2020
Dear College of Engineering Community,
I hope you all are already making or getting ready to make the most of this well-deserved break and fully taking advantage of the opportunity to detach from email and relax. We’re rounding the corner into the homestretch of the semester, and we all deserve a couple of days to rest, recharge, and reflect on the important things, including the health and safety of our community. If you are traveling, please be aware of Gov. Wolf’s recent announcements regarding COVID-19 and plan accordingly.
Here are today’s updates:
Alternative Grading Update
The University policy on alternative grading has updated the sections on repeating courses, eligibility for graduation with distinction, eligibility for the dean’s list, and grade forgiveness. Sections on entrance to major are still being revised and will be finalized by Dec. 3. More information for students, including frequently asked questions, may be found here.
Reminder: Important Resources Available
The holidays are often a stressful time, made more so this year because of the pandemic and limitations to in-person celebrations. If you are struggling, there are a variety of University and community resources available, including:
- Employee Assistance Program (a full description of the free services offered can be found at the link)
866-799-2728 - Centre Crisis Resources Center
800-643-5432 (available 24/7) - CentreSafe (formerly the Centre County Women’s Resource Center for domestic violence)
814-234-5050 - Red Folder PSU (contains resources to aid in the recognition, response, and referral of distressed students)
Be well!
Justin Schwartz
