Mock Career Fair

Setup for this event is similar to that of a career fair. Tables will be organized by industry, including:

• Biomedical/Pharma
• Construction Management/Structural Design
• Defense
• Government
• R&D
• Power/Energy
• Tech

Be prepared to introduce yourself to volunteers with an elevator pitch, share your résumé, and request feedback about how to interact effectively with recruiters. You may also wish to ask the volunteers for more information about their industries and personal career paths.

To prepare:

• Review the list of industries represented at the event and choose a few of interest.
• Review our guidance for students on preparing for career events. 
• Develop and practice a 30-second introduction/elevator pitch, including your name, student status (first-year, graduating student, etc.), major and minor, professional interests and goals, and reasons for interest in one or more industries.
• Prepare an up-to-date résumé. Take a few printed copies with you to share with IPAC volunteers for feedback.
• If desired, make a list of any questions you may have about specific industries.
