Food Drive

Help work towards this year’s E-Week goal of service by bringing non-perishable items to the drop box located in Kunkle Lounge from March 11 to March 22. The drive is sponsored by the Biomedical Engineering Society and Engineers Without Borders benefitting the Lion’s Pantry.

Construction Seminar
Civil Infrastructure Testing and Evaluation Laboratory
9:00 a.m.

Hosted by Penn State Engineers in Action (formerly Bridges to Prosperity), this seminar will take participants through stations representing the different parts of the bridge building process. If you need driving arrangements or have any questions, please send an email to Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. No experience is necessary!

Wing Eating Contest

Teams of four students will compete in a taste-testing and a speed-eating competition. All students are invited to participate. There is NO charge for this event. Come take a break from studying and enjoy a movie in the Engineering Library. Our double-feature starts with the professional development documentary, “Working in Engineering: Running a Team.” Our second feature is “Tron,” a CGI classic.

Engineering’s Got Talent

Engineering Undergraduate Council and The Graduate Student Council are co-hosting Engineering’s Got Talent 2019. Entries can be exhibitions (artwork, graphic design, photography, etc.) or performance. Performance auditions will be held on March 14 from 7:00–10:00 p.m. in HUB Alumni Hall. Paper Tower
Kunkle Lounge
6:00–7:00 p.m.

In this competition, teams will demonstrate their engineering prowess in two events to build the tallest tower out of nothing but simple materials like paper, tape, and string. The winners will receive a fitting 3D printed trophy.

Rube Goldberg Machine – Chain Reaction Event

6:30–8:00 p.m.

Hosted by Penn State’s Student Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. A Rube Goldberg Machine is a device that overcomplicates a simple task (in our case, putting toothpaste on a toothbrush), using many machines that work in sequence. We will be unveiling the design that our Chain Reaction Project Team has been working on and having an interactive challenge associated with Rube Goldberg machines. Come by to learn about this unique design challenge and enjoy some Jersey Mike’s sandwiches.

Financial Planning Seminar

Penn State Engineering Alumni Society (PSEAS) recognizes that students may be uncertain about finances as they come closer to graduating. It is for this reason that three members of PSEAS with extensive professional experience are here to answer a myriad of questions such as deciding when and how to negotiate a job offer, or details about IRAs and 401Ks.
